We are looking online to see what the characters really looked like. We need to make facial hair pieces that fit the kids. This has been fun and the kids are reading about the lives of the characters portrayed in the play. Btw, everyone knows almost all of thier lines....except me :)

We have a complete costume rehearsal today. Each actor will begin to organize their plan to change costumes within each scene and between each scene. We will practice again tomorrow afternoon since there is no time in the kids schedules during the week. It will be interesting to see how this turns out.

We have begun daily practice and the kiddos are really learning their lines. The work has become fun! We are able to cut up with each other much like "outtakes" in a movie. We will do a full costume rehearsal on Saturday and Sunday. The cast enjoys roleplaying..so it should be quite entertaining!

I wrote the play and I'm very excited about this. I'll be visiting Tatitlek to help with final preparations and see the performance. It's the world premiere! Tatitlek is a village on Prince William Sound, it's only accessible by air - or boat from Valdez - and it doesn't have a store. I am interested to know what the kids think about the events in Alaska history they'll be depicting.

The play describes events that lead up to Alaska becoming a state. The story is narrated by Benny Benson. It is a great deal of fun and covers spotlights of history over many decades. Our students can research their characters and get a deeper understanding of politics involved in their rich history. Our village has about 50 people presently.

What is the play about? It sounds like youre all having a lot of fun. How big is your community?
