My name is Napatsi Folger and I am an Inuk woman originally from Iqaluit, NU. I moved from Iqaluit when I was seven with my family to North Vancouver, BC. I lived in North Vancouver for 13 years, where I went to school to study marine biology. After two years in college, I decided to visit family in Iqaluit and work for the summer, but found that once I had returned home, I didn't want to leave, and so for the last five years I have lived and worked in Iqaluit. The last four years have been spent working for the Department of Education, Government of Nunavut, in Policy. It has been a very interesting experience, and I am excited to bring my knowledge and experience from my time in the North and in Education to my intership. My placement for the Circumpolar Young Leaders Program is with the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) in Winnipeg. I look forward to gaining new experiences and knowedge from my time here at IISD.
